Royal Global Clarinets was born in Boston in 2007, founded by international clarinet soloist and designer Yuan Gao. Together with his mentor, renowned clarinetist Jonathan Cohler, Gao began by designing and hand-finishing clarinet barrels and bells—each crafted with meticulous care and a passion for sound.

What began as a small-scale operation has grown into one of the most innovative clarinet manufacturers in the world. Today, Royal Global operates from a state-of-the-art facility, purpose-built for the entire Royal Global clarinet line. Our process still honors its American roots: every clarinet is inspected and hand-finished in the United States.

At Royal, quality begins at the source. We source the finest materials globally, including exotic hardwoods directly from Africa, and process them with care at our on-site sawmill—a rare capability in the industry. This allows for a more sustainable, consistent, and selective approach to wood conditioning. Even wood dust doesn’t go to waste—it’s repurposed into our exclusive ECO Wood, a durable and eco-conscious material used across our product line.

From wood selection and seasoning, to precision key making, to final hand-finishing and play-testing, we control every step of the process. The result? Instruments that are as reliable as they are expressive—designed for artists at every level.

Entry Professional: Classical Limited (Bb, A)

Professional: Polaris (Bb, A) and Firebird (Bb, A)

Bass Clarinets: Polaris Bass (to Low C), Firebird Bass (to Low C), and MAX Bass (available to Low Eb and Low C)

Our instruments are manufactured from the highest quality, naturally aged grenadilla wood. The MAX series features an exclusive "ECO" material, which is a composite of grenadilla powder and a special synthetic resin. This innovative material offers acoustic properties similar to grenadilla but with superior durability and resistance to cracking.

Royal Global stands by the quality that comes from combining modern technology with traditional craftsmanship. We invite you to see our process on our website, which shows the natural aging of the wood, how our lathes turn individual components, the creation of our shimmering key work, and the meticulous final assembly.

We offer a comprehensive 3-year warranty against cracking on our instruments. We stand by the quality of our carefully selected and processed materials.
